Marina and her "Hands Like Water"...

Water is the Earth's most precious resource.  As a child
growing up in the bay area of San Francisco, CA, and even
during my adult travels from South America, Europe and the
the Caribbean, I have fallen in love with water.  Whether it
be the ocean, sea, tropical rains, waterfalls, streams or
rivers...water has always generated vibrations of relaxation
    to my heart.

I have learned to meditate in a plethora of places across our
gorgeous globe.  Most of these gems being near the sea or
ocean, I realized that the name Marina was chosen by my
father and mother for a precious reason.

After moving back to the Bay from the island of St. Martin, I decided to take massage courses to see if I might have healing hands. I wanted to see if I could use massage to show people a way to find that paradise, like relaxation ( that I had found in all my water filled journeys). I completed my Swedish Massage Certification in and began practicing massage therapy in Marin County, California.  I had to give this uncovered talent a try.  After a month or so, more and more clients were giving me encouraging feedback to open up my own private practice so I decided to take my healing skills a step further and take a Deep Tissue massage course.  These two courses opened endless doors for me.

My dream was to work on yachts so I flew to St. Martin to break into the yachting industry.  My first year of massage took me from San Francisco to Marin, then to St. Martin. From my little island paradise, I jumped aboard a 135 ft. motor yacht which crossed the Atlantic.  We went from St. Martin, the Caribbean to Gibraltar, Spain then to Ibiza.  I worked as Massage Therapist/Stewardess from St. Martin to the Mediterranean on the Motor Yacht Seven Sins.  I then finished our journey in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.  My adventure was wonderful and my "hands like water" proved to be quite lucrative.  Some of my most precious memories were while we were at sea for 18 days completely disconnected from every day life and modern day technology. The ocean has an awesome therapeutic effect on the body. I felt at peace...seeing dolphins, turtles, whales, phosphorus... even another planet...it was truly an unbelievable and unforgettable experience.

I decided to bring my massage skills home and open my own practice.  Upon arrival, I wanted to take my passion of Yoga to the next level so I took a 200 hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Certification where an Indian Swami gave me the Sanskrit name of Maheshwari or “Great Goddess of Supreme Knowledge”.  I feel this name is appropriate as I am a person who loves to learn! I have a passion for learning new modalities, new cultures and about new people in new places...I am now a certified Ashtanga Yoga instructor and hope to incorporate some of these skills into my massage practice so that you too can feel the mind and body harmony that I feel.

I furthered my skills by completing a Shiatsu Massage course.  This magical modality has a cat like motion of pawing (using your hands, palms and fingers to pressure along the bodies meridians)...sort of like “yoga for lazy people”...All of which seem to make “rain” through the meridians of our bodies...It’s a great way to get stretched out..

Marina's journey continues as she focuses on even more massage modalities.  I completed additional massage courses, giving me a total of more than 500 educational hours in the art of Massage Therapy. I have learned Energetic Healing, Table Shiatsu and new modalities in Swedish/Esalin, Lymphatic, Cranial Sacral, Chair Massage, Lomi Lomi, and Reiki....I love my endless Journey of Integrative Massage!

Marina's latest wave of movement has landed her to the waters of Louisiana. Oh what magical energy the gulf needs during these times...I now embark on the adventures of making magic in the south...with my mother’s roots gifting me with a large family and a great network of friends with positive energy alike, nothing but marvelous manifestations await my hands like water...Let’s expand the magic!!!!

Now open for business in Lafayette, LA (located in River Ranch) I am centrally located to bring the magical journey of massage to all of Acadiana.  I have now added hot stone to my educational hours.  For now, Massage by Marina will focus on Swedish, Deep Tissue, Shiatsu and the subtle energy work of Reiki.  Incorporating new modalities into my practice will be a gradual process.  Continual sessions with Marina can greatly contribute to your healing process and progress.
